Let's Be Real

We live in reality everyday. People are walking the streets, our personal problems are evident, and bills will be due on the first. Being in college was amazing and stressful all at the same time. The mixture of joy and turmoil; Studying in a group of classmates, talking and laughing about possibly failing the very test you are studying for. Loving the time you spend with friends, going out and getting wild at the bars or that party Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. There was one week a friend and I went to a party everyday from Thursday to Monday night (yes even Sunday). These are great times and we live a life of fantasy and believe we are very much invincible.
I loved the college life and feeling young while also feeling grown at the same time. The freedom of time and position is something I looked forward to at 13 years old. Once I tasted that bliss of freedom, I knew, for myself at least, that I couldn’t go back to the confinement of my parent’s house. It is important to mention that I come from a household where I was taught to go to college and get out the house and take care of yourself. This is where the mindset stems from and why I'm here today. I'm aware that every family isn't like mine in their thinking. I have many friends whose family cares none about when they leave the house or if they come back. I understand my thinking could be detrimental in certain aspects but I tend to take some thoughts to the extreme. This causes me to hustle more instead of giving into my circumstances. I love that some of my friends can go back home and really still enjoy it. If I had to go back to my parents house, I'd be working day and night to be able to leave again. But thats just me, I can't speak for everyone.
No one tells you that the fun and games all come at a cost. Cost may be a bad word. We all learned about cost and benefits. The benefit of the college life and becoming an adult, comes with the cost of responsibility. We had to learn to clean after ourselves everyday. Take the time in our day to do homework, study and attend class when we could easily sleep all day or hang out. This is the hard part, where we have to be real with ourselves. When you take the time to think about those goals and dreams you have, you realize no one is going
to give it to you. Even if someone could give you everything you wanted, would it be exactly how you would like it? Would you really feel accomplished if you didn’t work for it? You should go out and live your best life, because you only get one. However, if you have goals or dreams, you have to be real with yourself and know that you are the only person who can truly give yourself what you want. And the interesting thing about this perspective, is when you see that the work put into your dreams is what makes accomplishing them more fun. The dopamine high you get is the result of the effort and time you put into your craft. No matter if others care about your success or not, you will feel amazing that you did it.
Just some food for thought. I believe you're doing great, and you’re exactly where you're supposed to be right now, keep moving forward (‘Meet the Robinsons’ reference lol).
